How do I...
Make An Appointment?

Booking your Appointment

You are expected to make an appointment at all surgeries. If your condition is non-urgent you can expect to see a GP within two working days, though you may have to wait longer if you want to see a particular GP. If you do not an appointment within two working days, you also have the option to book up to two weeks in advance if this is more convenient for you.

'Did Not Attend' Appointments

If you cannot keep your appointment please let us know as soon as possible by telephoning the practice. If you telephone in good time your appointment can be offered to someone else.

Approximately 100 appointments per month are ‘Did Not Attend’ (DNA), i.e. the patient does not turn up for the appointment and does not contact the surgery in advance to cancel/change the appointment. The failure to do this causes:

  • An increase in the waiting time for appointments
  • Frustration for both staff and patients
  • A waste of resources

In an attempt to try and resolve this, the practice has developed the following policy:

If you fail to attend appointments without informing us we will write to you to remind you of the requirement to do so.

If you fail to attend for an appointment on three occasions throughout a 12-month period you may be removed from the practice list and have to find an alternative GP practice.

How do I...
Obtain Telephone Advice?

The practice are able to offer a number of telephone appointments for patients who wish to discuss routine health matters with our clinical team. If you should wish to speak to a general practitioner please call the practice and ask for a telephone consultation. Please provide the reception with an up-to-date contact telephone number.

How do I...
Obtain A Home Visit?

If you need to see a general practitioner but are too ill to travel to the surgery or are housebound, please telephone where possible before 10.00am to request a home visit. A general practitioner may call you first to obtain more information surrounding your illness as well as to assess the urgency of the visit request. It is at the general practitioner's discretion whether or not to make a home visit.

When requesting a home visit please be prepared to give staff full details of your symptoms. This information helps the general practitioner assess the urgency of the home visit request. We will also need a contact telephone number.

How do I...
Obtain Test Results?

Please telephone the surgery after 11.00am for results of laboratory tests, smears, x-rays etc. Information will only be given to the patient unless permission has been given to a third party to request the results.
